About Powergrid

Design, build, and deliver

Located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, our business started in 1982 as Shallbetter, Inc. In 2015, the name changed to Powergrid Solutions Inc. (PSI) to embrace the vast diversity of products the company produces. Those products range from metal-enclosed capacitor banks to 35kV metal-clad switchgear reaching 100′ in length.

In 2006, the company built a new office and manufacturing facility to provide much-needed space for handling increased growth and larger projects. Our location in Oshkosh’s Northwest Industrial Park offers fast access to the interstate highway system, rail systems, and international airports. Milwaukee, Chicago, and Minneapolis are all within driving distance, while the Fox Valley area is home to various engineered products and specialty metal manufacturing.

Facility

Designed specifically to accommodate Powergrid Solutions’ fully-integrated manufacturing process, our 50,000 square-foot office and manufacturing facility in Oshkosh, WI, was custom-built to maintain diversity in products and flexibility.

Culture

While other companies sell what they manufacture, we manufacture to customers’ specific needs. Our business model is built for customization and flexibility. We do the entire process: engineer the product, fabricate it (including cut, punch, bend, weld, and paint), assemble and test each cabinet.

Powergrid Solutions’ business model focuses on five core values. Instilled in every product we produce, these values continue to differentiate PSI from other manufacturers

Customization

With our customization capabilities and flexible, integrated manufacturing process, we develop products that meet your specific needs.

Flexibility

Powergrid Solutions’ integrated manufacturing process provides the flexibility to manufacture a full range of products, from empty enclosures to complex power distribution and generation solutions. Our flexibility extends to components, giving you the ability to choose from a variety of manufacturers.

Quality

Powergrid Solutions’ commitment to quality begins with high-grade materials: Mild steel, A-60 galvanneal steel, aluminum or stainless steel enclosures, stainless steel external hardware, and industry-standard paint. The commitment continues in our quality construction process. Testing is at the core of our meticulous Quality Control System, which ensures PSI equipment is installation-ready upon delivery. Our commitment to quality translates into long-term value for you.

Value

PSI solutions are developed with your bottom line in mind. Whether you choose a custom design or an off-the shelf model, the life cycle of PSI products, ease of installation and customization options make them a great value.

Service

Powergrid Solutions’ customer care is second to none. From conceptualization to installation, our electrical-mechanical designers, application engineers, on-site service, and start-up support are focused on energizing your company.

Installation

The value of Powergrid Solutions’ integrated manufacturing process and sophisticated Quality Control System becomes most apparent at installation. Powergrid Solutions’ products are designed and built with installation in mind. You’ll see it in our innovative designs that lead to reduced shipping splits and shorter assembly times. You’ll see it in our meticulous testing programs- in reduced installation time and reduced expense on-site.

As hundreds of commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental and utility customers have found, Powergrid Solutions’ power solutions are designed, engineered and manufactured to lower your installation costs. Lower costs lead to increased satisfaction- and that keeps PSI customer coming back again and again.

Design / Engineer

Customers often ask whether Powergrid Solutions (PSI) is stronger in electrical-mechanical design or engineering. We are proud to say we are strong in both. Powergrid Solutions’ team of electrical-mechanical designers and engineers features engineering depth, industry expertise and broad in-house capabilities. Time and time again, we meet specifications where others take exceptions. Our integrated manufacturing process makes that possible. Because we design, engineer, build, assemble, install and train on PSI products, we have the capability to provide both standard and custom products. Whether you are planning for a new facility, upgrading an existing one or retrofitting your current power transmission, distribution or quality system, PSI will work with you to find a value-oriented solution.

Training

Just as Powergrid Solutions’ power solutions can be customized to meet your power quality, distribution, and generation needs, so too can the training programs that accompany your equipment purchase. Recognizing the functionality and performance of PSI equipment is enhanced for customers whose staff are trained on equipment usage, PSI works with you to develop factory or on-site training to meet your requests or specifications. The operational training allows your teams to learn from those who designed/engineered and built the equipment.

Manufacturing

Powergrid Solutions’ commitment to building better products begins with high-quality materials and continues through the integrated manufacturing process. We fabricate, weld, paint, assemble, test and test again, all in our manufacturing facility. Our custom-built facility was designed for this 21st Century integrated manufacturing process. This keeps the entire process flexible- allowing you to choose the components you want and allowing us to manufacture off-the-shelf and custom power solutions to meet your specifications and deadlines. PSI coordinates the turnkey manufacturing process, communicating with you and insuring accurate and timely design/engineering, component selection, fabrication, and testing.
